When you are looking for great squat rack or power cage for home, corporate gym, hotel gyms or school gyms it pays to look at the new technology, and here it is.
The Power rack or power cage is a worthy replacement for the smiths machine. It allows for safe free weight workouts
It was originally described as an apparatus for use with barbells, the power cage was patented in 1987 by Karl I. Mullen of Portland, Oregon. As described in his patent, and paraphrased below:
“ The unit essentially comprises four vertical posts with movable horizontal bar catchers on each side. For strength the uprights are normally linked together top and bottom thus producing a cage.
A safe free weight workout can be undertaken since dropping the weight will result in it being caught by the side bars.”
Power cagse can be used for
Squats
Deadlifts
Overhead press movement
Bench press
And a whole host of power movement using partial movement
Partial movement allows for greater weight to be used in a safe way, allowing for an overloading of muscle groups to produce greater growth.
The rack also comes with great dip bars. They have adjustable widths and even Lee Priest doesn’t shake this rack when he is training his chest.
The leverage gym concept has been around for a number of years after one of the American companies developed a commercial range of leverage gyms.

Units from Powertec are relatively easy to put together. You need to be able to use a screwdriver and a spanner and be able to read instructions.
It does help to have someone to help you hold things while you pout the unit together.

The unit takes up a space of just under 1.3 m by 1.3m. The height is 2.2 m.
